From serving as a company president to becoming a CEO, Charles Phillips is considered lucky because of the opportunities offered to him every now and then. After quitting his work in Oracle—one of the world’s top software developers—Phillips finds himself employed at a higher position of another software designer company that is experiencing potential growth every day.
Charles Phillips takes over a company that has already sold about $2.2 billion in business software to mid-level clients since 2002. Infor, which serves more than 70,000 customers from 125 countries, provides a wide array of software products related to customer relationship management, expense management, workforce management and supply-chain management. As the company’s new top official, Phillips oversees more than 8,000 employees who are parts of his vision to lead the company to its next chapter of development as the software provider.
His vast amount of knowledge in the database world makes him the best choice as the new chief executive. He knows a lot about application’s space and knows some companies that Infor has acquired before due to his experience at Wall Street. Charles Phillips understands the customer relationship and values continuous innovation. Also, the accomplishments that he achieved during his time with Oracle would really help him achieve great heights in Infor.
As expected, Infor’s revenue skyrocketed at $2.2 billion, but with Charles Phillips on board as CEO, many expected that the company’s growth will go even higher, similar to what he accomplished at Oracle. During his stint as the president, Oracle’s revenue jumped at least 300 percent from $9.4 billion to $26.8 billion. Furthermore, during his tenure as head of Oracle, they acquired companies that filled the gaps in their product line or built a durable presence in vertical markets. These companies were PeopleSoft, Siebel, Hyperion, BEA, and Sun.
Phillips’ stature has grown immensely throughout the years he is working in Wall Street, for the United States Marines Corps, Morgan Stanley, PeopleSoft Inc. and Viacom Inc. His credentials were established due to his hard work, dedication and knowledge. No doubt when a top executive post in a company was vacated, he was immediately chosen to take over.
